E-DEK PRO: A Different Approach to Lightweight Marine Decking

When choosing a new deck covering, appearance is often the first consideration. But on a boat, weight, comfort and installation can be just as important.
This is where E-DEK PRO offers an interesting alternative to conventional synthetic decking materials.
Lightweight by Design
Decking can cover a surprisingly large area of a boat, so the weight of the material is worth considering, particularly during a refit.
At approximately 2.2 kg/m², E-DEK PRO is designed for projects where keeping additional weight down is a priority.
Of course, weight alone does not determine whether a material is suitable. The way it feels underfoot, how it is constructed and how it fits the deck are equally relevant.
Two Materials, Different Functions

E-DEK PRO combines a polymer-based upper surface with a foam backing.
The upper layer provides the finished walking surface, while the foam underneath adds cushioning and contributes to a more comfortable feel underfoot.
This combination brings together characteristics normally associated with different types of marine decking.
The material is also available in different colours and patterns, allowing the appearance of the deck to be adapted to the boat.
From Full Sheets to Custom Deck Panels

Boat decks rarely consist of simple rectangles. Hatches, fittings, curved edges and changes in level all influence how a covering needs to be prepared.
E-DEK PRO is available in 2,400 × 960 mm sheets, which can be cut to suit individual layouts. For more complex projects, panels can also be produced according to supplied templates.
This makes it possible to approach both smaller refits and larger decking projects with the same material.
Installation: The Details Still Matter
E-DEK PRO comes with adhesive backing already applied.
That removes the need to spread a separate adhesive onto the back of each panel and can simplify the installation process.
However, pre-applied adhesive does not eliminate the need for careful preparation. A clean, suitable substrate, accurate measurements and correct positioning remain essential to achieving a good result.
Choosing the Right Decking
There is no single decking material that suits every boat.
Some owners prioritise the appearance of traditional teak. Others focus on weight, comfort, maintenance or the practical aspects of installation.
E-DEK PRO is one option worth considering when lightweight construction, a cushioned feel and flexible panel preparation are important.
Understanding these differences makes it easier to choose a deck covering that fits both the boat and the way it will be used.
